Government Undertakes ICT Services Review

The Provincial Government manages a large Information Communication Technology (ICT) network, with offices and service centres located throughout the province. To ensure that operations are efficient and effective, a contract to review ICT services and to develop a procurement strategy for these services in the future has been awarded to Deloitte Inc. The contract follows a Request for Proposals and is valued at $115,000.

“The review of information and communications technology in use across government will assess the current services and identify opportunities for efficiencies, technological improvements and cost savings. The ultimate goal is the development of a procurement strategy for ICT services within government which will help ensure that every aspect of government spending results in achieving the best value for our taxpayers dollar.”
- The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Transportation and Works

The Government of Newfoundland Labrador and other public bodies currently spend in excess of $30 million per year on telecommunications and data services province-wide. As part of their engagement, Deloitte will work with the Provincial Government to develop a procurement plan for future ICT services that achieves financial savings and technology improvements.

The review is anticipated to take approximately three months to complete. The scope of work includes identifying opportunities for the removal of redundant services and finding alternatives to traditional services.
