Public Advisory: Provincial Government Provides Update on MV Veteran

The first phase of sea trials for the MV Veteran is nearing completion. The second phase will get underway on June 29 in Fogo Island and Change Islands. The vessel will depart for Fogo Island on Tuesday, June 28.

The second and final phase of sea trials will begin on June 29 and will include the vessel operating near Fogo Island - Change Islands - Farewell to allow for additional onboard testing and monitoring. Monitoring will take into account the local sea state conditions, wharf factors and shore contour conditions, and the impact these factors have on the repaired propulsion units. This process is anticipated to take approximately three days.

Following the sea trials, the MV Veteran will dock in Lewisporte for a post-trial, pre-service entry analysis by officials from Damen, Rolls Royce and the Department of Transportation and Works.

A return to service date for the vessel will be determined based on the outcome of the analysis in Lewisporte. The MV Capt. Earl W. Winsor will continue to service Fogo Island - Change Islands - Farewell until that time.
