Public Advisory: Update Provided on South Coast Ferry Services
Travelers are advised that the Department of Transportation and Works is taking steps to minimize impacts to service following a mechanical issue with the MV Marine Eagle. The following changes will be implemented this week to the Francois - Grey River - Burgeo and La Poile - Rose Blanche ferry services:
Helicopter service will remain in place for the communities of Lapoile and Rose Blanche until Friday, June 17, inclusive.
The MV Challenge One will begin servicing Lapoile and Rose Blanche on Saturday, June 18. A daily helicopter service will begin for Francois on Saturday, June 18. The helicopter will also provide service to Grey River on days when the MV Gallipoli does not have a scheduled stop there.
This temporary service will remain in effect until Friday, June 24, when the MV Marine Voyager is due back to continue regular service on the South Coast for the summer. A further update on the Marine Voyager's return to service will be provided in the coming days.
The Department of Transportation and Works is providing regular updates to the ferry users committees and impacted communities. Ferry schedules and flight details can also be found at www.tw.gov.nl.ca/ferryservices/index.stm.
