Public Advisory: Mariners Advised of Closure of Placentia Gut

To facilitate the ongoing construction of the new Placentia lift bridge, the Department of Transportation and Works advises of the closure of Placentia Gut to navigation beginning Thursday, June 9, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily for an estimated two to three weeks.

The closure is necessary to conduct testing which will require raising and lowering of the lift span of the new bridge.

Vehicle traffic on the old bridge will not be impacted.

An update will be provided as the work progresses and the daily closures are no longer necessary.

The department thanks mariners for their cooperation and apologizes for any inconvenience the closures may cause.
