Public Advisory: Fixed Wing Air Services in Effect for Fogo Island and Change Islands

The Department of Transportation and Works advises that a fixed wing air service will begin at 12:00 noon today (Wednesday, February 10) for ferry users of Fogo Island and Change Islands. The service is necessary while the MV Capt. Earl W. Winsor undergoes an inspection and verification following an incident Monday, February 8 when a dump truck went into the water while unloading from the vessel.

Helicopter service is not available due to current weather conditions.

Flights from Fogo Island will depart from the Fogo Island airstrip, and flights from Gander will originate from the Gander International Airport. Air Labrador has been contracted to provide the service with the following departure times:

12:00 p.m. 12:45 p.m.
1:30 p.m. 2:15 p.m.
3:00 p.m. 3:45 p.m.
4:30 p.m. 5:15 p.m.
6:00 p.m. 6:45 p.m.

Travellers should contact Air Labrador directly by calling 1-800-563-3042 to make a reservation.

Passengers will be charged the standard walk-on passenger fare. Additional details and future updates will be posted online at www.tw.gov.nl.ca/ferryservices/.
