Public Advisory: Update Provided on Repairs to MV Veteran
The Department of Transportation and Works advises that completion of repairs to the MV Veteran, following a small fire on board the vessel Tuesday evening, will extend beyond Friday. The MV Veteran services Fogo Island and Change Islands. Arrangements are being made for the MV Capt. Earl W. Winsor to enter service with crossings anticipated to begin on Saturday, January 23.
The fixed wing (airplane) and helicopter air services remain in place at this time, weather permitting. Details on the helicopter and airplane schedules are provided below.
The Department of Transportation and Works apologizes for the inconvenience to travellers and residents of Fogo Island and Change Islands and assures ferry users that every effort is being made to minimize the impact on travellers.
Helicopter Air Service
Helicopter service is on a load and go, first come, first served basis from Farewell with the following rotation:
- Farewell to Fogo Island to Farewell
- Farewell to Change Islands to Farewell
- Farewell to Change Islands to Fogo Island
- Fogo Island to Change Islands
- Change Islands to Farewell
This service runs continuously between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily landing on the north side of Fogo Island. Reservations are not required.
Fixed Wing (Airplane) Service
Flights from Fogo Island depart from the Fogo Island airstrip and flights from Gander originate from the Gander International Airport.

The Air Labrador aircraft is capable of carrying 19 passengers per trip. Travellers should contact Air Labrador to make a reservation by calling 1-800-563-3042.
Passengers will be charged the standard walk-on passenger fare for both fixed wing and helicopter services.
