Media Advisory: Minister to Attend Federal Provincial Territorial Meetings of Ministers Responsible for Social Services
The Honourable Sherry Gambin-Walsh, Minister of Seniors, Wellness and Social Development, Minister of Child Youth and Family Services, and Minister Responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador Housing, will attend a meeting of federal, provincial and territorial ministers responsible for social services tomorrow (Friday, February 5) in Edmonton.
Among the key issues to be discussed are child care and early learning opportunities, Indigenous children in care, poverty reduction and social infrastructure.
Minister Gambin Walsh will join conference co-chairs, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Children, Families and Social Development, and the Honourable Irfan Sabir, Alberta Minister of Human Services, along with other provincial and territorial ministers, for a news conference to be held at 3:15 p.m. MST (6:45 p.m. NST). Local media can listen by phone and participate in the question and answer session by calling 877-413-4814. The participant pass code is 9761357. Media representatives who want to listen-in by phone are asked to call 15 minutes in advance to register.
This is the first time federal, provincial and territorial Ministers Responsible for Social Services have met in 10 years.
