Maintaining Affordable Housing

Renovation Work Improves Social Housing in Burin

Exterior and interior modernization and improvement work is currently underway on two social housing properties in Burin. Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC) awarded a $131,000 contract to Cox�s Construction Ltd. to undertake the work on the homes, located on Topsail Road in Burin.

�This work is part of Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation�s ongoing revitalization of social housing properties throughout the province. It is designed to ensure current tenants, and those in greatest need, continue to have suitable, affordable housing options.�

Renovations include siding, window, door and flooring replacements, along with electrical, plumbing and ventilation system upgrades � including the installation of heat recovery ventilation (HRV) units. The interior of the homes will receive new kitchen cabinets and countertops and new flooring throughout the units. This work is expected to be completed in February of this year.
