Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner - Data Privacy Day – January 28, 2016

Data Privacy Day 2016 is fast approaching. On January 28, 2016, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner joins other provinces and territories across Canada as well as other countries around the world in celebrating Data Privacy Day.

Data Privacy Day is an effort to raise awareness of the impact of technology on our right to privacy, including the many ways personal information is collected, stored, used, disclosed, and shared. The celebration of Data Privacy Day also underlines the importance of protecting personal information, a right this Office is committed to protecting.

We ask that you to think about what you have done or are planning to do to promote privacy protection. We will be tweeting (@oipcnl) about our Data Privacy Day activities at #DPD16 and #privacyaware – feel free to join the conversation! Together we can improve privacy protection in all public bodies across Newfoundland and Labrador.
