Building Opportunities in the Province's Oil and Gas Industry

Minister Talks Vision, Prospects at Noia Annual General Meeting

The Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources, was the keynote speaker at today's Newfoundland and Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (Noia) Annual General Meeting. Minister Coady talked about the importance the province's oil and gas industry and the tremendous potential it has.

"The province's oil and gas industry has a solid foundation. We have a stable, secure basis on which to build on and improve the industry. The province has incredible prospects and enormous new offshore opportunities that we continue to discover and market to the world. We need to create an environment which is ready to capitalize on these opportunities and able to move nimbly and quickly from prospect to discovery to production. I am confident that Newfoundland and Labrador will be known worldwide not only for our fields but sought for our innovation, our expertise and our abilities."

Minister Coady also focused on some of the shared goals of the Provincial Government and Noia, including the Provincial Government's commitment to the creation of the Oil and Gas Industry Development Council. The Provincial Government, in collaboration with key stakeholders, will work with the Oil and Gas Industry Development Council to develop a long-term vision for the future development of the province's oil and gas industry.

Our prospects, combined with the creativity and resilience of our local companies, sets a strong foundation upon which to build.
