Provincial Government Releases Input from Review of Assessment Act, 2006
The Provincial Government has completed its consultations of the Assessment Act and today released a "What We Heard" document.
"Our government made reviewing the Assessment Act, 2006 a priority and we are pleased to be advancing the process with the release of this document. We appreciate the feedback from the public, the review committee and the City of St. John's during the consultation process. We will take action to improve the Assessment Act, 2006 before people receive their next assessments."

The scope of the review addressed:
- The timing of assessments;
- Assessment criteria;
- Implementation of the associated mill rate; and
- Special purpose properties.
The Assessment Act, 2006 Review Committee engaged both targeted stakeholders and the general public for submissions on the Assessment Act, 2006 throughout the review and consultation period.
The review committee compiled the responses received during that consultation process and identified a number of themes found in many of the submissions.
