Non-Resident Hunters Face Charges Following Investigation

Four non-resident hunters are facing charges of illegal possession of big game following an investigation by fish and wildlife enforcement officers which began on October 31 and resulted in the four individuals being detained on November 3. One of the four hunters is also facing charges of illegally applying in the resident big game licence draw and killing a big game animal without a valid licence.

The four individuals, all from Nova Scotia, were hunting in the Bay of Islands area. Following their apprehension, they were released with notice to appear in Provincial Court in Corner Brook on February 14, 2017.

The investigation continues and two other residents of Nova Scotia are also facing charges of illegally applying in the resident big game licence draw.

As a result of the investigation, Fish and Wildlife Enforcement officers seized a 2011 Ford F150 pickup truck, an ATV, eight quarters of moose, a rifle and other hunting equipment.
