Supporting Canadians Living with Cancer

April is Daffodil Month in Newfoundland and Labrador

Daffodil Month is officially underway in Newfoundland and Labrador. The annual fundraising campaign organized by the Canadian Cancer Society helps to fund research and provide support services for those individuals and their families facing the fight against cancer.

Cancer is a disease that knows no limits. Many of us have been touched by cancer at some point in our lives if not directly, then through a family member or friend. Increased awareness through public education initiatives like Daffodil Month play a crucial part in the fight against cancer. I encourage residents to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle and in their own way contribute to the fight against cancer.
- The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services

The Canadian Cancer Society will host several local events and activities, as well as sell flowers and daffodil pins at various locations around the province.

Whether its through family or friends, we all have a story about how cancer affects us. By donating to the Canadian Cancer Society and wearing a daffodil pin, were collectively saying that we are in this together and we wont give up until all forms of the disease are defeated.
- Matthew Piercey, President and Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Cancer Society, Newfoundland and Labrador Division

The Provincial Government works in collaboration with the four regional health authorities and community partners to support programs and policies aimed at cancer prevention and healthy living initiatives.
