Premier Congratulates PAL Aerospace
The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today congratulated PAL Aerospace on its partnership with Airbus to engage with the Federal Government in a contract for search and rescue support services. As announced by the Government of Canada today, Airbus Defence and Space has been awarded a $2.4 billion contract to replace Canada's fleet of search and rescue aircraft. Airbus has partnered with PAL Aerospace for maintenance and support services.

the Government of Canada has announced this significant contract for new search and rescue
aircraft and that PAL Aerospace will provide maintenance and support services. This announcement
speaks to the experience and expertise of a vibrant Newfoundland and Labrador corporation with
proven capability to successfully compete in a rigorous competition in the aerospace industry and
secure a national contract as an integral part of an international consortium."

PAL Aerospace, headquartered in St. John's, is considered a global leader in maritime surveillance, with patrol aircraft in Canada, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
The federal partnership with PAL Aerospace extends to 2043 and will enhance the delivery of a complete, modern and technologically advanced search and rescue solution for the province and the country. PAL Aerospace will provide maintenance and support services to the new fleet of 16 C295W aircraft manufactured by Airbus Defence and Space to replace Canada's current fleet of aging search and rescue aircraft.
