Provincial Government Congratulates Katarina Roxon on Gold Medal Performance
The Provincial Government is congratulating Katarina Roxon from Kippens, Newfoundland and Labrador, on winning a Gold medal yesterday in the 100 Metre Breaststroke at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
“Katarina has proven to the world that she has the skill and determination to be the best in her sport. As Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, we are very proud of her and her accomplishments. On behalf of the Provincial Government and the entire province, I congratulate her on this incredible achievement, and I extend our best wishes to her as she competes in her remaining races over the next two days.”

Katarina is scheduled to compete in two more events: the 4 X 100 Metre Freestyle Team Relay today (Thursday, September 15); and the 4 X 100 Metre Medley Team Relay tomorrow.
“We are absolutely thrilled with Katarina’s performance and her Paralympic Gold medal win. She has already made waves on the international stage in the sport of swimming, and truly is an inspiration to all.”

Katarina has won numerous international medals during her swimming career, including six medals at the 2015 Parapan Am Games. Yesterday’s Gold medal was Katarina’s first medal in a Paralympic games.
