Premier Asks Auditor General to Examine Appropriateness of Severance Payment to Former Nalcor CEO
The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, pursuant to section 16 of the Auditor General Act, has requested the Auditor General to examine the appropriateness of the payment of severance to Ed Martin, the former CEO of Nalcor.
�The Civil Division of the Department of Justice and Public Safety has concluded that to provide a fulsome determination of issues related to the recent severance payment to Mr. Martin an investigation be conducted by an independent outside agency such as the Auditor General. Based on this opinion and the public interest I have decided to refer this matter to the Auditor General for an independent review.�
