House of Assembly to Open March 8
On Tuesday, March 8, His Honour Frank F. Fagan, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, will reconvene the House of Assembly for the First Session of the Forty-Eighth General Assembly.
To officially open the session, the Lieutenant Governor will read the Speech from the Throne at 2:00 p.m.
“The Speech from the Throne will set the course for how government will tackle challenging issues and growing needs, while working towards government renewal and greater long-term sustainability. This is a milestone moment marking the first time we will come together in the House of Assembly as a new government.”
- The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador
This marks the first session under the Dwight Ball administration.
“This is an important time as we open the House of Assembly for the first time as a new government. Not only is it imperative that we begin to advance many of the key issues facing our province, but also that we provide ample notice for everyone to prepare for that work. Under past administrations limited notice was provided. Our approach in providing extended notice reflects the openness, transparency and fairness on which our government is built.”
- The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, and Government House Leader
