Remembering the Ocean Ranger
Premier and Minister Recognize Anniversary of the Ocean Ranger Tragedy
Today marks the 34th anniversary of the sinking of the Ocean Ranger that occurred off Newfoundland and Labrador’s coast on February 15, 1982.
“The Ocean Ranger disaster impacted the lives of so many on that tragic day 34 years ago. On behalf of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, I express my deepest sympathies and send my thoughts and prayers to the families and friends who were so deeply affected by the loss of their loved ones. This tragic event will forever be remembered.”

A memorial ceremony will be held this morning at St. Pius X Church in St. John’s at 10:45 a.m.

The Provincial Government remains committed to ensuring the health and safety of the province’s offshore workers and the protection of the environment.
