The Honourable Perry Trimper, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Valentine Lake Mineral Exploration and Access Roads (Reg. 1839)
Proponent: Marathon Gold Corporation
The proponent proposes to construct 5.3 kilometres of mineral exploration access roads in the Valentine Lake area of central Newfoundland, 38 kilometres south of Buchans. The proposed exploration work along the access roads includes excavation of 15 to 20 trenches and drilling of an initial 10 to 15 exploration drill holes. An additional 15 to 20 drill holes may be required, depending on initial test results. The proposed exploration work and road construction will be based out of the existing Marathon Gold temporary exploration camp, located along the north shore of the Victoria Lake Reservoir. Construction is scheduled to begin in July, 2016.
The undertaking was registered on April 15, 2016; the deadline for public comments is May 25, 2016; and the minister's decision is due by June 3, 2016.
ENVIRONMENTAL PREVIEW REPORT SUBMITTED:
Howse Property Direct Shipping Ore Mine (Reg. 1751)
Proponent: Howse Minerals Limited
The proponent has submitted the Environmental Preview Report (EPR) for the above undertaking as required by the minister. The EPR is available on the department's website at www.env.gov.nl.ca/env/env_assessment/projects/Y2014/1751/index.html Public comments regarding the EPR are welcome and must be received by May 25, 2016. Comments may be emailed to the Chair of the Environmental Assessment Committee, Brent Keeping at bkeeping@gov.nl.ca or to EAProjectComments@gov.nl.ca or may be submitted by mail to the following address:

The project is also subject to review under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act 2012, and is undergoing a separate environmental assessment with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency. MINISTER'S DECISION EXTENDED:
Noel Paul's Brook Bridge Installation (Reg. 1836)

The proponent has agreed to extend the deadline for the minister's decision to April 28, 2016.
