Provincial Parks Campsite Reservation Service to Open for Season
In preparation for the 2016 camping season, the campsite reservation service for provincial park campgrounds will open over three days later this month. Campers can call 1-877-214-CAMP (2267) or visit www.nlcamping.ca to make a reservation. Seven provincial park campgrounds will open for the Victoria Day weekend, while the six remaining campgrounds will open in late May and early June.
Starting on April 19, users will be able to visit www.nlcamping.ca to create or update their user profile. Users can begin making reservations starting at 7:00 a.m. NDT each day, beginning on April 26 with the Western and Labrador Region. Reservations for the Central and Eastern Region will open on April 27, and for the Avalon Region on April 28. The full schedule for the camping season is provided in the attached backgrounder.
Camping is a wonderful way to bring family and friends together while experiencing the beautiful natural environment our spectacular province has to offer. I encourage residents and visitors to plan a stay at one of our many provincial parks this summer.
- The Honourable Perry Trimper, Minister of Environment and Conservation
As in 2015, clients will be required to pay 100 per cent of camping fees at the time of reservation. Camping fees are fully refundable when appropriate notification is given as defined in the refund policy. This policy helps ensure that campsites are not left vacant due to no-shows and resulted in 2,313 additional camping nights being available to clients last year.
All campsites within provincial parks will be available for reservation this year. However clients who arrive at a Provincial Park campground without a reservation will still be able to avail of the campsite drop-in service.
Clients using the drop-in service will be permitted to register for any vacant campsite for up to seven nights depending on availability. Further details about the campsite drop-in service can be found in the information section of www.nlcamping.ca .
Clients are reminded that not all campsites can accommodate all types of camping equipment; therefore it is important to provide accurate information when making a reservation. Providing the confirmation number generated during the reservation process will also result in faster, more efficient check-in upon arrival at the campground.
The province's network of provincial parks and natural areas includes 13 camping parks, seven day use parks, the T'Railway Provincial Park, Main River Waterway Provincial Park and 10 park reserves, for a total of 32 provincial parks. In addition to provincial parks, there are two wilderness reserves and 18 ecological reserves that protect significant seabird colonies, rare plants and significant fossil sites.
