Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Perry Trimper, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Sand & Gravel Quarry Operation Near Pipers Hole River                         (Reg. 1837)
Proponent: Dean Clarkes Contracting

The proponent has submitted a proposal to expand an existing quarry to develop additional sand and gravel resources in an area approximately 2.5 kilometres northwest of the community of Swift Current on Route 210 and adjacent to Pipers Hole River. The extension will add two hectares to the existing quarry site in an area heavily developed by other quarrying activities. Construction activities will include access upgrading, clearing, grubbing and pit development. No new road construction will be required. Once operational, the quarry is intended to provide screened sand and gravel to local area customers and winter sand for highway depots.

The undertaking was registered on March 16, 2016; the deadline for public comments is April 20, 2016; and the ministers decision is due by April 29, 2016.
