The proponent, Cliffs Natural Resources, has agreed to extend the deadline for the minister�s decision to February 24, 2016.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Holyrood Industrial Composting Facility                                          (Reg. 1833)
Proponent: Metro Environmental Services Incorporated

Metro Environmental Services Incorporated is proposing to establish an industrial composting facility to process a variety of organic waste collected from commercial and industrial sources in Newfoundland, to produce a marketable finished organic fertilizer product. Organic waste to be composted will include mink farm offal, spent hens, dead birds, poultry feathers, slaughterhouse offal and carcasses, fish processing wastes and sludges from wastewater treatment facilities. The organic waste will be mixed on-site with wood chips, sawdust and shredded plants. The composting process will consist of long parallel windrows sufficiently spaced to be mechanically turned for aeration. The undertaking will be located at the northwest intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Route 90 (Salmonier Line), in the municipality of Holyrood.

The undertaking was registered on February 15, 2016; the deadline for public comments is March 21, 2016; and the minister�s decision is due by March 31, 2016.
