Environmental Assessment Bulletin
The Honourable Perry Trimper, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Cape Freels Quarry and Access Road Construction (Reg. 1832)
Proponent: Northside Landscaping Limited
The proponent has submitted a proposal to construct and operate a 9.9 hectare quarry off Route 330/28 near Cape Freels. The project will also require a 2.0 kilometre access road, to be constructed as the quarry is developed. Approximately two hectares will be developed annually and the quarry is expected to operate for eight months a year. Activities will include loading, hauling, screening and stock piling.
The undertaking was registered on February 2, 2016; the deadline for public comments is March 9, 2016; and the minister's decision is due by March 17, 2016.
ADDENDUM TO THE REGISTRATION:
Bay d'Espoir to Western Avalon TL 267 Transmission Line (Reg. 1803)
Proponent: Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro
The proponent submitted an Environmental Assessment Registration document in July 2015. Since that time, the proponent has continued with its detailed engineering, field assessments and analysis with consideration of technical, environmental and socioeconomic factors. As a result of this ongoing work, and detailed design, Project components have been more clearly defined.
The addendum was submitted on February 1, 2016 and the deadline for public comments is March 7, 2016.
