Recognizing High School Student Achievement
Minister Announces Recipients of Provincial Scholarships
As part of the Provincial Scholarship program, more than $200,000 is being awarded to 201 recent high school graduates. The scholarships, which range in value from $1,000 to $2,500, are based on Public Exam results and will help students fund their post-secondary education.

The Junior Jubilee Scholarship, valued at $2,500, is awarded to the student who attains the highest overall marks in the province. This year’s recipient is Nitish Bhatt, a graduate of Gonzaga High School in St. John’s.
The Constable W.C. Moss Scholarship is awarded to the son or daughter of a member of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (active, retired or deceased) who, other than the Junior Jubilee winner, achieved the highest public examination marks. This year’s recipient is Sarah Mackey, a graduate of Waterford Valley High in St. John’s.
In addition, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador awards Electoral District Scholarships of $1,000 to the three high school graduates in each electoral district with the highest marks. In the event of a tie in a particular electoral district, more scholarships are awarded.
Centenary of Responsible Government Scholarships, valued at $1,000, are awarded to the 79 students with the highest marks – other than the Junior Jubilee, W.C. Moss and the Electoral District Scholarships.
