Recognizing Those Dedicated to Student Success
Celebrating Teachers and School Staff Throughout the Province
The work and dedication of teachers, administrators and support staff throughout Newfoundland and Labrador is being recognized this week as part of Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week, February 14 to 20.
This week celebrates teachers and all staff who are committed to enhancing the quality of school programs and improving student achievement. Teachers, administrators and support staff wear multiple hats to ensure that the school day runs smoothly and all students receive a high quality education. I encourage parents, students and all residents to celebrate our teachers and school staff and to say thank you this week for all the important work they do.
- The Honourable Dale Kirby, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development
National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week was initiated by the Canadian Home and School Federation in 1988 as a means to encourage parents, and the wider school community, to recognize the contributions that teachers and school staff members make to children and their education.
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week is a great opportunity to show appreciation to the teachers and school staff members who have impacted our childrens lives. Teachers play a vital role in ensuring that our students receive the high quality education they need to become the leaders of the future. I encourage school councils, parents and school communities to let teachers know how much you greatly appreciate the creativity, patience, dedication, and positivity they bring to their job. Thank you to all our teachers and school staff members for their commitment to the power of education to transform the world one student at a time."
- Peter Whittle, President, Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of School Councils
