Media Advisory: Minister to Participate in National Family Literacy Day Events
The Honourable Dale Kirby, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, will be visiting two schools tomorrow (Wednesday, January 27) for National Family Literacy Day.
At 9:10 a.m. Minister Kirby will be reading to a Grade 3 class at St. Edward’s School on Long Shore Road in Kelligrews.
At 11:00 a.m. Minister Kirby, will read to a Grade 2 class at the Octagon Pond Area School located on 425 Topsail Road in St. John’s.
Family Literacy Day is a national awareness initiative created by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999 and held annually on January 27. The purpose of the initiative is to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family.
