Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Perry Trimper, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT GUIDELINES FOR PUBLIC REVIEW:

Cape Ray Gold Partnership Project   (Reg. 1851)
Proponent: Nordmin Resource and Industrial Engineering Ltd.

The proposed Cape Ray Gold Partnership Project is undergoing a provincial environmental assessment and an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required. The Environmental Assessment Committee has prepared draft EIS guidelines that identify the information that must be included in the EIS. The public is invited to review these guidelines and provide written comments by December 12, 2016. Comments received will be reviewed and considered before the EIS guidelines are finalized and issued to the proponent.

AMENDMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL PREVIEW REPORT:   (Reg. 1751)

Howse Property Direct Shipping Ore Mine
Proponent: Howse Minerals Limited

The proponent has submitted an amendment to the April 2016 Environmental Preview Report (EPR). The amendment primarily addresses clarifications on the air quality modelling used in the assessment as well as proposed wildlife mitigations. The EPR and the amendment can be viewed on the department's website at: //www.env.gov.nl.ca/env/env_assessment/projects/Y2014/1751/index.html

The public deadline to submit written comments to the minister on the most recent amendment is December 8, 2016. The minister's decision is due on December 18, 2016.
