Minister Announces Province's 2017 Canada Summer Games Mission Staff

Team Newfoundland and Labrador's mission staff for the 2017 Canada Summer Games were announced today by the Honourable Sherry Gambin-Walsh, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development. The games will be held from July 28 to August 13, 2017, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

They will lead our province's top athletes as they compete at Canada's premier multi-sport event. I wish them all the best as they help Newfoundland and Labrador's athletes to put their best foot forward in Winnipeg next summer."

The mission staff consists of 20 members including: Chef de Mission, Rod Snow, Paradise; Assistant Chefs de Mission, Frank Humber, Corner Brook and Karen Sherriffs, St. John's; Debbie Marnell, St. John's; Don Power, Outer Cove; Gary Martin, Mount Pearl; Tom Godden, St. John's; Allison Sturge, St. John's; Denise May, Corner Brook; Ellis Coles, Paradise; Greg Pittman, Clarenville; Jamie Randell, Clarenville; Mike Summers, Torbay; Peter Butt, Twillingate; Robert Goulding, Grand Falls-Windsor; Brenda Greene, Happy Valley-Goose Bay; Craig Tulk, Grand Falls-Windsor; Leslie Anne Walsh, St. John's; Peggy Wakeham, St. John's; and Gerard Lowe, Corner Brook.

Since their inception in 1967, the Canada Summer Games have been held every two years with Newfoundland and Labrador participating on each occasion. For the 2017 games, Team Newfoundland and Labrador will be represented by approximately 350 athletes, coaches and managers. The province will host the Canada Summer Games in 2025.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to supporting our province's athletes as we encourage every citizen in the province to choose healthy, active lifestyles.
