Public Advisory: Prescribed Burn to be Conducted near River Brook

Weather permitting, the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency will conduct a 90-hectare prescribed burn tomorrow (Wednesday, August 3) near River Brook. The site is located approximately 10 kilometres south of Crabs River in Forest Management District 14.

The prescribed burn is part of a silviculture management activity to prepare the site for planting and to eliminate the threat of adelgid, a naturally-occurring forest pest which limits tree growth. If weather and wind conditions are not favourable on Wednesday, the burn will proceed when conditions permit.
