Strengthening the Tourism Industry Through Strategic Investments

Over $123,000 in Funding Supports Economic Diversity in the Corner Brook Region

A Provincial Government investment of over $123,000 will help Marble Zip Tours Inc. and Western Newfoundland Brewing Company Ltd, based in the Corner Brook region, build stronger and more dynamic communities and enhance their local economies. The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, toured Marble Zip Line, one of the funding recipients, while in the region last week.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to advancing our provinces rural regions with investments that target sustainable, long-term economic opportunities in the cultural and tourism sectors. From advances in small business practice to improvements in tourism, this strategic investment demonstrates the dynamic and versatile business community that is working to strengthen and grow our provincial economy. We are proud to support Newfoundlanders and Labradorians in their efforts in a variety of enterprising endeavors.
- The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development

Western Newfoundland Brewing Company Ltd is receiving $74,364 to support the establishment of a microbrewery in Pasadena.

We are very excited to bring locally brewed craft-beer to Western Newfoundland. Our products and business model have been in development for more than two years and we are exceptionally thankful for the assistance provided to us by the Department of Business, Tourism, Culture, and Rural Development. People can look forward later this summer to seeing Killdevil Pale Ale and Wild Cove Cream Ale on tap at Galliott Studios in Woody Point, The Cat Stop in Norris Point, and other select venues throughout the Gros Morne region. We hope this venture bolsters opportunity throughout Western Newfoundland to foster growth in our beloved region.
- Jennifer Galliott, Director of Marketing and Sales, Western Newfoundland Brewing Company

Western Newfoundland Brewing Company will offer well-crafted and traditionally brewed beer.

I am pleased that the Western Brewing Company has decided to set up its operations on the West Coast of our province. The Town of Pasadena is excited about the opportunities this will bring in terms of tourism and economic development and we wish them every success with their business.
- Otto Goulding, Mayor, Town of Pasadena

Marble Zip Tours Inc. is receiving $49,314 for the implementation of a strategic marketing plan for 2016/17. The funding will be used to create a full inbound marketing campaign, which focuses on marketing activities that bring visitors in, and will include pre-production of marketing materials, editing, graphics and narration, and music and images licensing.

Marble Zip Tours features eastern Canada's longest, tallest, most exhilarating zip lining rides with unparalleled views of both the Humber Valley and Marble Mountain Resort. While in the winter weve established our snowmobile tours as the perfect way to experience Newfoundlands gorgeous back-country wilderness, this level of success would not be possible without strategic marketing. The support from the Department of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development is a considerable help and will ensure our marketing materials match the unparalleled experiences we offer our guests and tourists to the province.
- Martin Flynn, Marble Zip Tours

Funding was provided through the departments Business Development Support Program. The Provincial Government remains focused on the provinces long-term prosperity by encouraging job creation, strong communities and natural resource development that is of maximum benefit to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
