Promoting our Farmers and Producers

2016 Newfoundland and Labrador Farm Guide Available Online

The updated 2016 Farm Guide, an informative publication that connects Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to farms located across Newfoundland and Labrador, is now available on the Provincial Government website.

"The agriculture industry is a significant economic generator and of great cultural importance to our province. The Newfoundland and Labrador Farm Guide promotes the rich variety of food and products produced here. I applaud the farmers and producers who have opened their fields to local residents and visitors who are interested in seeing farming operations first-hand."
- The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister Responsible for the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency

The publication serves as a tour guide and includes statistics related to the agriculture industry. The guide was developed using information compiled by development officers, Statistics Canada and the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency Policy and Planning Division. In addition, staff with the Agrifoods Development Branch worked with the Horticulture Council, Food First and the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture to ensure all information was accurate.

Budget 2016 provides $12 million to agriculture programs to continue growth and diversification in the agriculture industry. It will also provide for an agriculture growth strategy that responds to industry and producer recommendations.

The farm guide is available online in PDF format and can be downloaded from the Provincial Government website at www.faa.gov.nl.ca/
