Appointments Made to College of the North Atlantic Board of Governors and Memorial University Board of Regents

The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, today announced three new appointments to Memorial University Board of Regents, and an appointment to College of the North Atlantic Board of Governors. Individuals appointed, following nomination by their peers, will serve as student representatives to the respective institutions.

Appointed to Memorial University Board of Regents are Zachery Green of Williams Way, Rebecca Stuckley of St. John's, and Jaime Giraldo of Columbia. The appointment to College of the North Atlantic's Board of Governors is Hughie Andrew Smith of Carbonear. Students are nominated by students themselves and not subject to the Independent Appointments Commission and the merit-based appointment process created by the Provincial Government in spring 2016.

Jaime Giraldo is enrolled in the Visual Arts degree program at Grenfell Campus, Zachery Green is enrolled in the Bachelor of Technology degree program at the Marine Institute and is President of the Marine Institute's Student Union, and Rebecca Stuckley is a graduate student at Memorial University. Hughie Andrew Smith is studying Electrical Engineering Technology at College of the North Atlantic.

Nominees for appointment as student representatives are recommended to the boards by the respective student unions.
