Assisting Youth to Achieve Career Goals

Provincial Government Now Accepting Applications for Linkages Program

Proposals are now being accepted for the Linkages program, which assists youth between the ages of 18-30 achieve their career and employment goals.

�This program allows young people to gain the skills and experience they need to acquire a new job and start a career, re-enter the workforce, or become an entrepreneur. The Linkages program has valuable peer-to-peer interaction which includes discussion on the job-search process, labour market information and decision making.�

Funded through the Department of Advanced Education and Skills in partnership with non-profit community-based agencies, Linkages assists young people who have challenges entering the labour force and who are currently not eligible for Employment Insurance. The program aims to help individuals return to school to complete academic upgrading; enter skills training; continue employment; or, assist with self-employment.

�Many young people desire first-hand support in entering the work force and continuing education. Community sector organizations are well-positioned to provide skills enhancement and learning opportunities. That is what the Linkages program is all about. Through partnerships with community organizations and the Provincial Government, Linkages offers youth from diverse backgrounds a chance to increase their possibilities to succeed at work, at school, and at life.�
