Enhancing Infrastructure to Benefit Families and Communities

Provincial Government Awards Tender for Ferryland District Road Upgrades

The Provincial Government has awarded a tender for provincial roads upgrades for the District of Ferryland. The contract, valued at over $1.86 million, was awarded to Concord Paving Limited of Carbonear.

“The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is pleased to announce the awarding of a significant contract for roadwork in the southern region of the Avalon Peninsula in the District of Ferryland. These road upgrades will significantly benefit residents and businesses in the area by providing a more reliable and improved transportation network in the region.”

The work being undertaken as part of this contract includes:

  • Upgrading and paving of three kilometres of Route 3 from Ruby Line to Doyle's Road;
  • Resurfacing of five kilometres of Route 10 from Witless Bay towards Mobile;
  • Upgrading and resurfacing of three kilometres of Route 10 in Renews;
  • Asphalt leveling of approximately three kilometres on Route 10, near Portugal Cove South;
  • Installation of two box culverts on Beachy Cove Road at Tors Cove; and
  • Upgrading and paving of local roads in Ferryland.

Over the past three years, more than $400 million has been spent in maintaining, upgrading and enhancing hundreds of kilometres of roads, as well as replacing 23 bridges and repairing 40 other bridges throughout the province. High quality transportation infrastructure is integral to the social and economic growth of Newfoundland and Labrador, which are key elements of the recently launched Population Growth Strategy.
