Maintaining Strong Transportation Infrastructure

Coal Brook Bridge Receiving Upgrades

The The Provincial Government has awarded the tender for upgrades on the bridge at Coal Brook on the Trans Canada Highway. A contract was awarded to Brook Construction Inc. for over $470,000.

"Bridges are an important part of our transportation network and we continue to make progress through significant investments to replace and revitalize a number of bridges throughout the province. In addition to the work being tendered for the Coal Brook bridge, motorists are seeing advancements in other projects which are currently under construction or are being tendered for upgrades, including the new Placentia Lift Bridge, the Sir Robert Bond Bridge and the Team Gushue Highway Overpass at Blackmarsh Road."

Brook Construction Inc. has been awarded a contract for the removal and replacement of the existing retaining walls on Coal Brook bridge, located on the Trans Canada Highway on the west coast of the island.

The Provincial Government remains committed to providing a safe and reliable transportation network throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Over the past three years, more than $400 million has helped maintain, upgrade and enhance hundreds of kilometres of roads, as well as replace 23 bridges and repair 40 other bridges across the province.
