Habitat for Humanity Families Celebrate Home Ownership

Two new Habitat for Humanity Newfoundland and Labrador partner families celebrated home ownership today, at a home dedication ceremony in Paradise. The two homes were constructed through an investment of $170,000, equally cost-shared between the federal and provincial governments under the 2011-14 Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Agreement for Investment in Affordable Housing. The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Environment and Conservation and Minister of ServiceNL, attended the event on behalf of the Provincial Government.

We are honoured to support Habitat for Humanity Newfoundland and Labradors work and celebrate home ownership for two more families in our province. We understand how safe, affordable housing can change lives and strengthen communities. Sincere congratulations to both families on your new homes and this wonderful new beginning.
- The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister Responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation

To date, the federal and provincial governments have jointly provided approximately $1.4 million to Habitat for Humanity Newfoundland and Labrador, through the Investment in Affordable Housing program, which is administered by Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation. Land for the current projects was provided by the Town of Paradise.

Since 1994, Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation has also contributed land, labour and/or funding toward 49 Habitat for Humanity Newfoundland and Labrador construction projects throughout the province.

Habitat for Humanity Newfoundland and Labrador is about partnerships, about community, and about family. This current build has given two families a new beginning, and it's another step in the long-standing partnership between Habitat for Humanity Newfoundland and Labrador, the federal and provincial governments and the Town of Paradise."
- Kim Todd, Chair of the Board of Directors, Habitat for Humanity Newfoundland and Labrador
