Minister Encourages Participation in Panel Discussions on Hydraulic Fracturing in Western Newfoundland

The Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Natural Resources, is encouraging participation in public sessions being hosted by the Hydraulic Fracturing Review Panel.

�We are pleased that the Hydraulic Fracturing Review Panel is reaching out to the public and stakeholder groups to provide input on hydraulic fracturing in western Newfoundland. Public discussion was a commitment made by our government last fall when we released plans for the panel and we invite everyone to get involved in this process. We look forward to receiving the panel�s final report which will also be made available to the public. The health and safety of our people and protection of the environment are our main considerations, and will continue to guide our decisions, as we pursue opportunities to develop our natural resources.�

Details for providing input to the panel are available through the panel�s website at www.nlhfrp.ca. Submissions to the panel or requests for meetings with the panel may be made online at www.nlhfrp.ca. , by email to contact@nlhfrp.ca or by conventional mail.

The panel is also accepting requests to present at public consultation sessions in Corner Brook and Stephenville, as well to meet with the panel via teleconference and face-to-face meetings.

The deadline for written submissions to the panel, or for requests to meet with or present to the panel, is noon on June 1, 2015.

At the end of the review, the panel will prepare a report which will be made available to the public.
