Health Care Investments Strengthen Communities
Over $800,000 Delivers Health Care Benefits to Residents in Clarenville Region
Through a Provincial Government investment of more than $800,000, residents of Clarenville and the surrounding area will benefit from enhanced health care equipment at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital and the new protective care residence.
“Over the last decade, the Provincial Government has dedicated over $425 million to provide modern, state-of-the-art equipment at health care facilities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Individuals and their families continue to have access to quality health services and improvements to these services contribute to our communities and support our government’s Population Growth Strategy.”

More than $500,000 has been allocated to Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital for equipment such as:
- Heart monitors and defibrillators for the emergency department;
- A portable ultrasound machine for the emergency department;
- 14 fetal monitors for women and children’s health;
- Replacement stretchers;
- A bronchoscope;
- A microscope for laboratory services; and
- A replacement telephone system.

Through Budget 2015, an additional investment of approximately $300,000 has been provided for the purchase of equipment and furnishings for the new 12-bed protective care residence. The protective care residence will accommodate individuals with dementia and is located in close proximity to the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital.

Budget 2015 includes a total of $133.7 million to ensure access to new and modern health care facilities and equipment for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, including $40 million for new health care equipment and $20 million for repair and renovation projects.
