Health Care Investments to Benefit Families and Communities
Approximately $600,000 Supports Health Care on West Coast
Residents of Stephenville, Port au Port and Bay St. George will benefit from investments of close to $600,000 in equipment and infrastructure upgrades at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital and the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre.

Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville will receive funding of approximately $285,000 for:
- External pacemakers and generators to optimize patient care and services;
- Automated medication units to enhance ease of administering medication;
- Case carts used for the transportation of surgical instruments; and
- Enhancements to the reprocessing of medical equipment with improvements to the endoscope cleaning station.

An additional investment of $140,000 will be provided for renovations to the registration areas of the emergency department, the medical imaging department and the laboratory at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital. These enhancements will result in improved patient flow at the facility. As well, a regional investment of $24,000 will be used to purchase four channel voice recorders that will benefit the paramedicine program across the region.

Residents at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing will benefit from $104,000 for a new paratransit bus. The long-term care centre will also receive funding of $45,000 to facilitate the replacement of a commercial dishwasher.

Budget 2015 includes a total of $133.7 million to ensure access to new and modern health care facilities and equipment for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, including $40 million for new health care equipment and $20 million for repair and renovation projects.
