Media Advisory: All-Party Committee on Federal Shrimp Quota Allocations Available to Media Following Technical Briefing
The Honourable Vaughn Granter, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture and Chair of the All-Party Committee on Federal shrimp quota allocations, along with committee members are in Ottawa today (Tuesday, April 21) to meet with the Honourable Gail Shea, federal Minister of Fisheries and Oceans. Committee members are there to present information on the negative socio-economic impacts of the quota allocation policy currently applied to the Northern Shrimp fishery in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Minister Granter and Committee members will be available to media tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. to discuss the meeting and the information presented.
Prior to this media availability, a technical briefing will be held by Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture officials who will present information on northern shrimp allocations and review the report, Socio-Economic Impacts of Shrimp Quota Reductions in Newfoundland and Labrador, recently completed for the department. The technical briefing will take place at 12:30 p.m.
Both the technical briefing and the media availability will take place in the Media Centre, Ground Floor, East Block, Confederation Building.
