Provincial Government Commits to Continue Core Funding for Community Groups

Recognizing the important work of community organizations throughout the province, the Provincial Government today committed to maintaining the current level of core funding provided to community-based organizations through Budget 2015.

“Community-based organizations provide vital programs and services to residents and businesses. Many of these groups receive core, annual funding from our government. These funds are used to make multi-year plans and map out programs and services for the coming year. It was important to our Premier and our government to indicate this continuation of funding so these organizations can continue to make plans.”
- The Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board

Community groups that receive annual core funding will be contacted by the individual department of government they are associated with to discuss specifics. Annually, the Provincial Government provides approximately $70 million to a large number of community groups in the form of core funding. In addition to that funding, many organizations receive funding from the Provincial Government as a result of annual application-based funding and grant programs. That funding is still under review as part of the budget process.
