Media Advisory: Premier and Ministers to Welcome the MV Veteran
The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Honourable David Brazil, Minister of Transportation and Works, will welcome the newest addition to the provincial ferry fleet, the MV Veteran, to Newfoundland and Labrador on Friday, October 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Pier 8, St. John's Harbour.
Premier Davis and Minister Brazil will be joined by the Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Natural Resources and MHA for The Isles of Notre Dame, as well as officials from Damen Shipyards, ferry users from Fogo Island and Change Islands, and other invited guests.
A tour of the vessel will be provided to media following the welcoming ceremony. Media wishing to attend the event, and to tour the vessel, must register by noon Thursday, October 22, by contacting Jacquelyn Howard by phone at 709-729-3015 or email jacquelynhoward@gov.nl.ca
The MV Veteran arrived in Newfoundland and Labrador on October 16, following a journey from Galati, Romania where it was built. The vessel will enter service on the Fogo Island-Change Islands run in November.
