Premier Receives Responses from Federal Leaders Outlining their Positions on Provincial Issues

The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today released responses from Liberal, NDP and Green Party federal leaders, which were received this week. The letters are in response to Premier Davis' letters of September 25, 2015, which were sent to federal party leaders Stephen Harper, Justin Trudeau, Thomas Mulcair and Elizabeth May. The Premier posed questions to the federal party leaders on their policy positions on important matters such as the fishery, trade, environment, temporary foreign workers, Marine Atlantic, search and rescue, 5 Wing Goose Bay and federal presence.

"I am pleased to have received replies from three of the federal party leaders. It is disappointing that, to date, we have not received a response from Conservative Party Leader Stephen Harper, who has not taken the time to address these issues of tremendous importance to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. These responses will assist in informing our residents when making their decisions in next week's federal election."
