Statement: Premier Expresses Condolences to Family of the Late Paul Johnson
The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today offered condolences on behalf of the province to the family of renowned businessman and philanthropist, the late Paul Johnson. Mr. Johnson's significant impact on Newfoundland and Labrador was broad-reaching.
As a successful business person, he established himself as a leader and innovator in the provincial and national insurance industries. Mr. Johnson was well-known for his support and passion for the preservation of Newfoundland and Labrador's history and culture. Over the years, through the Johnson Family Foundation, significant financial contributions were made to a variety of heritage projects, as well as to the Grand Concourse, which residents and visitors will continue to enjoy for years and years.
To have been bestowed numerous prestigious honours, including being named to the Order of Canada, Order of Newfoundland and Labrador and the province's Business Hall of Fame was a true testament to Mr. Johnson's character and his long-lasting contributions that have so deeply impacted and enriched the lives of others. Reminders of his generous, unpretentious influence have been permanently etched throughout our community and our province.
We, as Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, take pause to remember Mr. Johnson's loved ones in our thoughts and prayers, and join them in celebrating his remarkable legacy. On behalf of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, sincerest sympathy is extended to his family and many friends.
