Media Advisory: Minister to Participate in International Right to Know Day Discussion
The Honourable Steve Kent, Deputy Premier and Minister Responsible for the Office of Public Engagement, will participate in the Centre for Law and Democracy's International Right to Know Day discussion on Monday, September 28, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The event will take place at Halifax City Hall, with Minister Kent speaking at approximately 6:15 p.m. Atlantic Time.
The theme of the event is Understanding Your Right to Know: Why is Canada 59TH in the World? Held on International Right to Know Day, panellists will discuss the right to information in a Canadian context, and consider how to strengthen and promote transparent government across the country.
In his remarks, Minister Kent will speak about how Newfoundland and Labrador established a new legislative framework in 2015 that resulted in the province becoming an international leader in access to information and protection of privacy.
