Media Advisory: Details of the 39th Annual Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers

The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will host the 39th Annual Conference of New England Governors (NEG) and Eastern Canadian Premiers (ECP) in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, on August 31, 2015.

Background:
The Annual Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers is an inter-regional, bi-national, trans-border organization established in 1973 in recognition of the special bond that exists between the six New England states and the five Eastern Canadian provinces. Its members comprise the governors and the premiers of those states and provinces. The meetings are held alternately in New England and Eastern Canada. The last meeting was held in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, in 2014.

The 39th NEG/ECP Annual Conference provides governors and premiers an opportunity to explore themes of common interest. This year’s conference will focus on the regions energy as well as innovations in the energy sector which contribute to climate change mitigation.

Media workroom:
A media workroom will be located in the Plymouth Room (lower lobby level) and will be opened as follows:
        Sunday, August 30: 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
        Monday, August 31: 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

The media workroom will be equipped with a television monitor and high speed internet access.

A media briefing will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Plymouth Room on Monday, August 31, 2015.

Parking for satellite trucks and broadcast vehicles is available by special arrangement with Kevin Guest, Director of Communications for the Department of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs.
