Premier Honours Chris Decker
The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, has expressed his sympathies to the family of the late Chris Decker, who passed away on August 8.
"A former Mayor of Roddickton and minister of the cloth, Chris Decker dedicated a decade and a half of his life to serving the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, both as a Member of the House of Assembly and as a Minister of the Crown in a series of portfolios in the administrations of Premiers Clyde Wells and Brian Tobin. He was known by those who served with him for his tenacity and effectiveness, but also for his wit and charm as a storyteller, a gift that was as apparent in the legislature as it was in the books that he published. He had the courage and the skill to take on significant challenges in an effort to improve the lives of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, and for that, he deserves our sincerest gratitude and respect. To his family and his many friends, on behalf of the government and people of Newfoundland and Labrador, I express my deepest sympathies. He was one of a kind and will be missed."
