Supporting a Strong Public Service

Government Recognizes the Contribution of Employees During Public Service Week

As part of Public Service Week, the Provincial Government is celebrating approximately 450 employees who have reached significant service and career milestones within the core public service. Employees who have reached 20, 25, 30, 35 and over 40 years of service are recognized by government for their commitment to public service.

"Newfoundland and Labrador has some of the hardest working public servants in the country who are building rewarding careers with the Provincial Government. Without their dedication this province would not have seen the tremendous growth it has in the past decade. The employees receiving recognition for their years of service are to be commended for their efforts to support government and the people of the province. It is because of the years of unwavering service of all of our employees that we have been able to develop and deliver the programs and services residents of the province expect and deserve."
- The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador

The theme of Public Service Week is Proudly Serving Newfoundland and Labrador. In keeping with this theme, the Public Service Awards of Excellence, which is the most prestigious award a public servant may receive, were presented on Wednesday, June 17 to honour 15 employees for demonstrating excellence in service delivery.

"The province is served by a dedicated and professional public service. I would like to thank those who were recognized this week for their extraordinary service to Newfoundland and Labrador. Their ingenuity and exceptional work ethic stands as an example to the entire public sector. It is important to recognize those who have reached these milestones as they have laid the ground work for a strong public service that will serve Newfoundland and Labrador into the future."
- The Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, Minister Responsible for the Human Resource Secretariat

Public Service Week is celebrated the third week of June each year as a way to celebrate the commitment and hard work of public service employees.
