Province Attracts National Insurance Centre of Excellence

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is providing support to RSA Canada to expand their operations through the creation of 1,200 person years of employment, or approximately 300 full-time, professional jobs and the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in St. John’s. The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, made the announcement at an event in St. John’s today.

“Our government is committed to attracting business and helping to create job opportunities for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. Canada’s insurance industry has been growing steadily over the last five years, and we are pleased to see this desirable employer, which is already established in our province, choose Newfoundland and Labrador as the location for its Centre of Excellence.”
- The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador

RSA Canada has committed to approximately $70 million in new salary expenditures over the next five years. In support of this expansion, the Provincial Government is providing up to $6.5 million in the form a forgivable loan from the Investment Attraction Fund. The loan will be forgivable as RSA Canada meets its job-creation commitment. These various professional positions with attractive salaries and benefits will provide meaningful employment and career opportunities in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Centre of Excellence will service RSA Canada’s national operations.

“Our skilled and dedicated workforce, innovative culture, and competitive, pro-business environment led RSA to select Newfoundland and Labrador over all other jurisdictions for their Canadian Centre of Excellence, and we are very pleased with their investment in our province.”
- The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development
