Media Advisory: Premier and Minister to Celebrate URock Volunteer Award Winners

The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will join the Honourable Steve Kent, Deputy Premier and Minister Responsible for the Office of Public Engagement, to celebrate youth volunteerism and present awards to the eight recipients of the 2015 URock Volunteer Award. The awards show takes place today (Thursday, May 14) at the Glacier in Mount Pearl and gets underway at 7:30 p.m.

The Premier and Minister will be joined by the Honourable David Brazil, Minister of Transportation and Works, and Kevin Parsons, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Darin King, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development.

The event will be hosted by Mike Fardy, and feature live performances by Jenna Maloney, Stompbox, and City on the Coast as well as community booths from volunteer organizations. Award recipients will each receive an electric guitar, customized by students of the Graphic Design program at College of the North Atlantic, to celebrate the innovative ways young people volunteer.
